Japan Karate Institute Daniel Island is proud to offer karate instruction for the entire family. Wado Ryu karate is an excellent aerobic activity, offering a full body workout in a low impact environment. In addition to the obvious health benefits associated with exercise, karate can also increase your self confidence and improve your ability to defend yourself in the unfortunate event of an attack.
Each student progresses at his or her own pace and advancement through the belt ranks is based on personal development. With dedicated training twice a week, a student can achieve the rank of black belt in an average of three to five years.
Unlike other exercises and activities, karate is more than just "working out". An ancient art with roots that date to the Shaolin Temples of China and the samurai warriors of Japan, karate is an activity that you can practice your entire life, and it requires little space or equipment.
The safety of our students is a top priority. We strongly believe that one must master the basic techniques of karate before being allowed to engage in any type of free sparring.
